After colouring my first three pieces from Johanna Basford's Secret Garden Colouring Book (Artist's Edition) in symmetrical form and colouring my last one (Rainbow Tree) non-symmetrically (even though the artwork was drawn symmetrical), finally here comes one piece that's not drawn symmetrically.
And that can only mean one thing....free-hand...no rules, no remembering what exact colours to use (for the corresponding similar parts), no need for balance and consistency.....:)
But, before I go completely crazy with free-hand, I need to rein in some rules so that I don't go overboard! ;)
Work in Progress #3
My approach to this piece, even though the artwork isn't symmetrical in nature, was to colour similar (or almost) parts (like leaves with the same design) with the same colours to achieve some form of consistency.

Work in Progress #5
Without going overly colourful with the flowers (which you can if you don't control yourself), I restricted myself to shades of pink, red and purple for both the flowers on the ground and in the air...with the exception of a splash of blue.

Another beautiful piece of artwork from you! Love the color schemes and I wish that I had the same talent. Can ah? LOL!
ReplyDeleteWell, you may have that talent, you just don't know it yet until you do a colouring piece...hehe! ;D Anyway, you have other talents that I don't have....like baking and gardening :)
DeleteNice piece of artwork with a wishing well for everyone. I have made my wish in your well and hope it will come true.
ReplyDeleteI hope your wish will be granted as you certainly deserve it for being such a compassionate person =)
DeleteThis coloring thing is all the craze now isn't it?
ReplyDeleteIndeed it is...perhaps Haze might want to join in the craze? ;)
DeleteIt looks lovely. I just got a colouring piece to give to my niece when I see her next week.
ReplyDeleteThanks...I'm sure your niece will have many of hours of enjoyment with the colouring book you got for her :)
Deletegosh, when i looked at the uncoloured artwork, it looked really daunting, as it's so intricate. but you did a really nice job of filling everything in progressively and making it look (deceptively?) easy :D
ReplyDeleteIt is easy...just needs patience...hehe! :D The intricacy of the artwork is the very reason why I love Johanna Basford's work! ^o^
