Lavender Bakery @ Pavilion

Lavender Bakery is so conveniently located (in my favourite mall) where I'd usually park that I would almost always stop by to get some of my favourite goodies before heading home.

It's the smell of freshly baked bread that gets me each time I walk by.

And clearly, one of my all-time favourites are the Soft Raisin Balls @ RM5 (for 5 pcs).  I'm absolutely crazy over them as you can see in my earlier post on it here.

They're are remarkably soft and fluffy to eat....and just as good on its own.  I can eat quite a few of these at one go.

Sometimes, I would go for the healthier Wheat Buns @ RM3.30 (for 4 pcs) when I'm here.  But these, unlike the soft raisin balls, need some butter and jam to get it going (in my opinion) although they're also softly textured.

The buns look really beautiful with specks of slightly charred wholegrain cereals covering the top of the bun.

Although I do like red beans, I wasn't too fond of their Red Bean Loaf @ RM5 with those giant-sized red beans.

The Egg Loaf @ RM4 is soft and fluffy like most of their bread......mmm!

I like to cut them into four thick slices, slather them with butter and toast them.  Sometimes, I sprinkle them with garlic powder and parsley flakes.  Fragrant with butter (and garlic) and crispy on the edges with an absolutely soft texture...they're so, so good!

This is the Coconut Bun @ RM2.95 that looked ever so inviting with its glistening top.  As you unwrap the pandan leaf surrounding the bun, the whiff of it teases your taste buds already.

The coconut filling, which was cooked with a bit of palm sugar, tasted incredibly fresh and fragrant.  The coconut filling may be a tad sweet for some taste buds (and mine too) but I liked it so much I'm willing to forgive the sweetness.

The Raisin & Cranberry Bun @ RM2.95 is nice and not sweet with a burst of sweetness and tartness from the raisins and cranberries.

What's not to like when confronted with a Tuna Fish Roll @ RM2.65 if you're a fan of tuna like me.  It's just tuna enveloped in an amazingly soft bun! :)

This is what they called Xiao Ge Ge @ RM2.45 (as per the name stand) but I have no idea what that means or what that is.  I tried asking the staff there but he didn't know either.  But it was exceptionally moist, soft and tender.  As I'm not a baker, I'm just as hopeless in differentiating between cake types (like coffees), I'll just know if I love 'em or hate 'em.  And this one, I loved 'em....I can eat many strips of these if not for the price!

The Pumpkin Muffin @ RM4.20 (with a little festive cheer) wasn't sweet but I'm not sure if the taste of pumpkin was all that prominent though but I thoroughly enjoyed it nevertheless.

Dorayaki is a Japanese red bean pancake that consists of two small pancake-like patties with a filling of red bean paste.  The one with the mouse imprint is the Red Bean Dorayaki @ RM2.80.  They also have a version with pandan kaya, the Pandan Dorayaki also @ RM2.80 (the one with the teddy bear imprint).  The patties were soft and nice and the filling not too sweet.

These are the Mini Cranberry Earl Grey Scones @ RM5.10 (for 4 pcs) and they've to be consumed within 2 days.

These scones, with a crisp texture, are more crumbly than moist but could be a bit more buttery, in my opinion.  The earl grey is very subtle, hardly noticeable.

I loved the abundance of dried cranberries inside, so no marmalade or clotted cream is necessary.  Other than the sweetness from the cranberries, the scones are not sweet at all.

Check out a more recent post on the place here.

My Personal Opinion

My 'go to' bakery whenever I'm in Pavilion.  I especially love the softness of their breads!  I never fail to buy their bread loaves home and eat them over the next few days.

  1. Coconut buns for me please! A reader told me they also do a delicious dense fruit loaf. I'm yet to try it though.

  2. There's one at 1-U but I haven't bought anything there. I have a weakness for buns too and I usually get my stash from TK Confectionery. I can down many buns in one go hah..hah.. I suspect that Xiao Ge Ge is a cotton cake.

    1. Ahh, the cake expert should know. I know how to eat only...keke....it could be a cotton cake coz it was incredibly light and soft.

  3. I've had their layer cake, more than once. Very nice. Maybe I have had some of their other stuff as well, all nice...but I hear they're not all that cheap. Never went to buy anything from them myself.

    1. Bakery items these days are usually not cheap, especially the ones in shopping malls. I've not had their layer cake before, maybe I'll try this the next time I'm there.

    1. It may not necessarily be an egg loaf if it's made with something else...like it could be a pumpkin loaf! ;D

  7. Lavender is one of the higher end bakery so their buns look very good. One day I noticed they (the Midvalley branch) are selling the Korean mochi buns that STP raved about at RM3.60 a bun so I did not buy it. After that, I wanted to buy it but cannot find it anymore in Lavender. Have you seen the bun being sold in Lavender? Now I regret not buying it that day I saw it.

    1. In fact, I find some of Lavender's bread and buns even lower priced (and nicer) than other bread-type stores (like Breadtalk or Breadstory). I don't remember seeing these mochi buns but then I wasn't specifically looking for it, so I'm not sure.
